Why Subscribe?

Because we're not here to spam your inbox with wellness platitudes or try to sell you essential oils that will "change your life."

We're here to share what we're learning about making healthcare and massage therapy actually work for humans - the messy, complicated, beautiful reality of caring for people when they need it most.

What You'll Get

Real talk about massage therapy in healthcare settings. Stories from the field that don't always have happy endings but always have something to teach. Research that actually matters to real people doing real work. And probably some strong opinions about how we can all do better.

Who We Are

Healwell exists because healthcare is broken in approximately 47,000 ways, and we're stubborn enough to think massage therapy can help fix some of them.

Touch. Teach. Advocate.

We touch people affected by illness - in hospitals, clinics, and wherever they are. We teach massage therapists how to show up skillfully in clinical settings without accidentally making things worse. We advocate for massage therapy to have a seat at the healthcare table (preferably one with good lumbar support).

Our vision is simple: Less pain. More love. Our philosophy is borrowed from someone much smarter than us: We all do better when we all do better.

We train massage therapists, partner with hospitals throughout the DC metro area, conduct research that doesn't gather dust on shelves, and occasionally remember to practice what we preach about self-care.

People

A non-binary human in a world that pretends to be binary. Here to spread love and ask questions. I love good writing and bad puns. (Some posts are updated previously published blogs from calcates.com)
Corey wants to know everything all of the time, and is lucky enough to work for Healwell so they have an excuse to try. They are passionate about how humans communicate information and about the profession of massage therapy.
